Amusing isn’t it? When President Bill Clinton directed Attorney General Janet Reno to fire 93 US Attorneys, it was a GOOD THING. But when President George W. Bush has only 8 US Attorneys step down, it is a BAD THING??? What is that about? President Clinton was trying to throw the Investigation off of Dan Rostenkowski; and also give himself more time to prepare a Defense for the Whitewater Case. In all, President Clinton replaced 250 US Attorneys during his eight year sexfest in The Oval Office. But it was Good when he did it, and Bad when President Bush did it. And people wonder why Liberals or so called Progressives make me want to puke.

I wasn’t aware “The War on Terror” is about giving freedom to Iraq.
I also didn’t realize that the United States was in the business of Nation Building.
Our Founding Fathers would be severely dissapointed…
Ultimately we are fighting a war that is counter-productive and unconstitutional.
We are less safe now that Iraq is controlled by Muslim Fundamentalists.

Jack,
I have a Video that was taken from a Terririst Training Camp in Iraq. You can see from the maps the Terrorists had drawn, the target they were training for was on our highway system.
We went to Iraq for several reasons, one of which was to free the oppressed people of Iraq. Counterproductive? What should we have done? Ignored 911 like President Clinton ignored the attacks on our Embassies, ships and Military compounds around the world; of which there were EIGHT TERRORIST ATTACKS
during the eight year Sexfest in the Oval Office. I guess if your neighbors house was on fire, you wouldn’t try to save them or even call the Fire Department. Afterall…it’s not your house…and you don’t want to get involved, right? You remind me of the Cowards who hide in their cars and are too scared to get out and help someone who is being beaten to death. You sit there in your car and think of all the reasons you shouldn’t get involved. You don’t support Our Troops, Our Country and Our President. I say “You are a Coward”.

I wasn’t aware that elements inside Iraq were involved in 9/11.
I would love to see that video and expert analysis of its origins. Is it veiwable online? is it achived anywhere?
I know the President would have loved to have had that info too:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A50679-2004Jun17.html
Honestly, given what I have read, I do not doubt some existence of Muslim anti-American sentiment/training in Iraq. Clearly, Saddam’s power was weak in portions of Iraq, particularly the north.
Since ousting the secular leader, those small strongholds of Muslim Extremist controlled teriitory have now consumed almost all of Iraq.
Logistically, if the argument for war would have been based on our altruistic concern for Iraqi people, certainly your “house on fire analogy” would have been slightly more relevant.
However, even whenoverlooking this “detail”, I can not see the benefit it ridding Iraq from one Terrible Leader, which then allows that vacuum of power to fill with Muslim Extremism– especially when we statred the war in the name of a “War on Terror.”

Jack,
The best I can do is explain the video to you. It starts out showing a map drawn on a large poster sized paper. The map is a drawing of a Clover Leaf interchange and the traffic flow drawn in arrows on the right side of the road.
It is clearly a North American Target they are training for. You watch as a pickup truck passes a vehicle, and two men hidden under a tarp in the bed of the truck, raise up and spray the car with AK47s. Then one of the men runs up to the vehicle, throws a grenade in the car and they both retreat to the pickup while the grenade explodes. They jump in the back of the pickup, and as they start to drive away, a motorcycle comes into the picture covering their escape and spraying targets that simulate witnesses with a machine pistol as they all make their escape. Very pleasant…huh Jack. We think they were training to take out some important official or person in this country. Jack, when we all watched Saddam give $25,000 checks to family members of suicide bombers…what should we have done? Given Saddam time out? Maybe the only thing Saddam needed was to be given a hug? When the Democrats get their way, and Our Troops come home, this enemy will follow. And when the Terrorists start rolling the heads of little kids out of some School in America, the blood is on YOUR hands. Why? Because people like you could not support the Troops while they fought. Look at what the Terrorists did in Russia when they attacked that School. How will you be able to sleep at night Jack?

Am I to assume this video is not available to the general public.
Also, who verified the video as being categorically connected to the Saddam regime?
Or did the video originate after Saddam was taken out of power, which would make since given the aftermath: increase of Muslim Extremist power in Iraq.
Am I also to assume that the Bush administration consideres this video not worthy enough to be used as evidence to support the war? …
And, exactly how does this prove that the war in Iraq is beneficial to the War on Terror?
— especially given that we Removed a secular leader that viewed Muslim fundamentalists as a threat to his power… which, of course, allowed the Muslim Extremists to take control of the country…
Also, Ill ask again: Exactly what group(s) inside Iraq was involved with 9/11.

Sorry Jack, but you should have called Bill out more strongly. It sounds like this tape is bogus. Good point about the war actually increasing the threat of terrorism. I think Afghanistan was a good Idea, and Im not sure about iran yet, but i looks like Iraq was a big mistake. However, now that we are there we should stay there and minimize our mistake the best way possible. Pulling out now would be dangerous.

I’ll make arrangements with you to see it when I travel through your area. I made the same offer to Jack, then deleted the comment so only he would receive my business email. We will get to gether and view it, then I want you make a comment on here that YOU HAVE viewed the video. While people like you sit on your ass and run down Our Troops and Our President, some of us have been working to try to keep this Country safe.

Ok… I think Jack’s point isnt necessarilly that the video is bogus, that’s just what I said (and it may be). But rather the point is that the war in Iraq has actually increased the threat of terrorism.
Just look what our own CIA and FBI has to say:
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/09/24/world/middleeast/24terror.html?ei=5088&emc=rs&en=da252be85d1b39fa&ex=1316750400&partner=rssnyt
This point doesn’t waver even if your “mysterious” video is real. A video that apparantly the Bush administration doesn’t even use as a justification for war.
Thus Jack’s question:
Was this video verifiably connected with the Saddam regime?
If muslim fundanemtalists were involved, I’m sure we can safely say NO.
If Saddam was involved, Im sure the Bush administration would have been parading the tape all over the news media.
The point is, removing Saddam was good for the muslim extremists and we have now effectively increased their playground in the Middle East, thus Americans are less safe.
Essentially what we did in the war with Iraq was to take out one of the only secular leaders in the area, who according to our own intellegence estimates viewed Al Qaida as its mortal enemy. Which is kinda funny because we did this all in the name of fighting the muslim extremists.

Iraq was a training ground for Terrorists. They even had planes that no longer flew to teach Terrorists how to board, conduct themselves and take over the plane. Also, by arguing that taking out Saddam was bad for the muslim Fundamentalists you are directly aposed to the findings of not only the CIA, but also the bi-partisan National intellegence Committee. (URl’s to documents that you obvioulsy havent read provided above)
If you want to argue that we are fighting in Iraq for the benefit of the iraqi people: Fine, i would still dissagree with you that we should be there, but at least you could make some arguement for this justification.
However, once you start insisting that this war is productive in combatting muslim Extremists you are on pursuing something you can’t possibly defend.
we have created a new playground for the Muslim Extremists, one that was not available to them under the Sadam regime. And by doing this, we are less safe.

And while I agree with Bill that our troops have done an amazing job against the worst circumstances we have faced since Vietnam, its almost impossible for people to argue against the findings of the National Intellegence Estimate produced by the CIA and the NSA. – which warned of the increase of terrorism before the war… then detailed in anohter report after the war exactly how the increase threat has emerged. i.e. The Fundamentalists now control Iraq.
Thanks for providing the URL’s above. Its been a while since I have purused those documents.

Read it for yourself. It doesn’t matter what evidence is provided to you, it will not change your mind. You hate George Bush, and nobody can convince you that Terrorists were in Iraq prior to the invasion.
In a phone interview with Rush Limbaugh on 4/5/07, Vice President Cheney said,
Afghanistan was basically a failed state. Then with the Taliban in charge it provided a sanctuary, a home base, if you will, for al Qaeda to launch attacks not only against us, but wherever they chose. Afghanistan can no longer be used for that purpose because of what our forces did there.
“In Iraq, a similar proposition there. We were concerned not only about the fact that Saddam had hosted terrorists in the past. He’d stimulated and encouraged them by providing financial rewards for suicide bombers that hit Israel, as well as his past involvement with weapons of mass destruction. And all of that put us in the position where we think now with the process begun both in Afghanistan and Iraq, where we’re standing up new governments. We’ve got constitutions written where we’re going to have governments put in place, here, hopefully, in the not-to-distant future, where those areas will no longer be threats to the United States or anybody else. In fact, they’ll be able to serve, we hope, as models for responsible states in that part of the world.”
Whay is amusing to me is this, you want people to believe Terrorists Groups were found everywhere in the World, except in Iraq? The Terrorist Groups were in every LARGE American City, Phoenix, New York, LA…everywhere, except in Iraq.??? That is so simple minded.

Im sure the CIA and the NSA would love to scrutinize those documents …
Because, documnets approved by those working under the Joint Cheifs have very often proven to be either weak or falacious. – see above
Perhaps our spy agencies should have an emergencey meeting to rewrite our National Intellegence Estimate?
Almost time the CIA or the NSA has looked at Muslim Extremist training nside Iraq, they have determined the connection to be extremely loose, outside of Saddam’s control, or more often ORIGINATING AFTER SADDAM WAS TAKEN OUT OF POWER.
Ultimatley, as our own CIA and virtually all other spy agencies around the world have stated.: Saddam viewed Muslim Extremism as a threat to his Secular leadership.
Certainly Muslim Extremists camps did exist inside Iraq, but befreo the war they were mostly contained within the northern section of iraq were Saddam weilded very litttle power.

Actually, Jack has been consistent: He metnioned in posts very early on that its likely Muslim Extremists were in Iraq.
His point the entire time has been that tose few cells of Muslim Extremists were primarilly active where Saddam held the least amount of power and now that Saddam has been ousted, the muslim extremists have filled the vacuum of power in the whole of Iraq that was previously hel by Saddam’s secular regime.
Don’t forget… Saddam is noted for severely persecuting Muslim Extremist factions in Iraq. Beheadings… torcher .. etc…
As the NSA and CIA has exhaustively described, Saddam feared Muslim fundamentalist power as a threat to his Secular Regime.
