Ron_PaulThis is a Guest Opinion by Allen Holm. Though I do not support Ron Paul, I do support Freedom of Speech; and I’ve written enough opinions about Ron Paul myself, I think it is only fair to allow someone who supports him to reply. Whether you are Republican or Democrat, Liberal or Conservative, we should all be able to voice our opinions and not hate each other.
Thanks Allen!

It is obvious that Ron Paul is not the media darling. He gets little or no positive press. Every national known TV, radio, and newspaper gives their viewers listeners and readers the idea that he is not a viable candidate; continuing to refer to him as presidential “hopeful”, or “long-shot”, despite his incredible campaign growth. They portray his followers as 9/11 truther’s, wacko’s, vicious attack dogs, internet hackers, and even racists. Many people support him, and there are fringe groups that do, but they are not even close to the majority of us. The truth is, we want his message to be spread far and wide. Everyone who has heard him and has listened to him agree with him on key points. Those who do not are only those who do not listen to him or accept the truth in what he says. At the very least, he is one who speaks his mind, speaks with honesty, and has lived up to what he says.

The media is all about advertising, ALL of it, including the news. They want the widest distribution of their product, and the greatest impression of what their sponsors pay for. The problem with Ron Paul is his message is for the people and individual rights, not for making money. That is why those of us who support him feel a great need to continue the spread his views at a grassroots level to everyone. Hopefully the media will not be able to keep him from getting the nomination by “spinning” his views on every issue.

There are literally millions of good, honest, hard working people whose only knowledge of Ron Paul is what they see on the news. Few of them watch the debates, or even realize they do have a candidate who supports their views. They all know who Guliani is, who Hillary is, who Romney is, and who Obama is as these candidates are mentioned daily in the national news. Ron Paul is not. Most people would agree with much of what he says if they could only hear him without “spin”

He has won every online poll from every single televised debate. He has won the majority of the straw polls including these:
Conservative Leadership Conference, Reno, Nevada

Oregon Straw Poll- Portland, Oregon

CWA New Jersey GOP Straw Poll

South Sound Ronald Reagan Republican Club

Maryland Straw Poll

Ronald Reagan Club (Washington)

FreedomWorks Straw Poll

New Hampshire Taxpayers

Case in Point: October 21, 2007 – Orlando, Florida – Debate #6

Ron Paul not only did not get more time/questions, but that the hall was also stuffed, like a ballot box, with a pro-war crowd who actually cheered Rudy Guliani’s idea for a renewed arms race with Russia and booed Ron Paul when he pointed out 70% of the American people are against the war. They booed him even before he answered the stupid question “You’re against the Iraq war, so is Senator Clinton, so what are the differences between you?” He explained that Hillary was on their side of the issue. They paneled a group of “voters” where Douglas Maher, a partisan hack, called Ron Paul “certifiably insane” The media accused his supporters of cheating. They have excused the fact veterans and troops support him, and worst of all they have offered the American people one of the most pathetic staged debates for President in history. None of this is a surprise as this debate was set-up by (vice-President hopeful) Governor of Florida Charlie Crist, and FOXNEWS, not to mention that the tickets for the “crowd” were sold to the candidates. That is all but to Ron Paul.

Why is he still not a viable candidate for conservative Republicans as far as the media is concerned? He is not only viable, he is the frontrunner. And he is the ONLY candidate that can beat Hillary Clinton in the general election. Media or no media.
