I was dismayed when I excitedly read my newest editorial to my wife, and she replied, “That’s nice, Honey, and it’s just like all the other editorials I could read. Why don’t you simply put some passion into it?”

“Huh?” I said, feeling as deflated as a balloonist at a porcupine convention.

She replied, “Tell what it’s like for us to have our sons serving in Iraq together, having our hearts skip a beat every time the phone rings and one ear always glued to the news, and tell how strongly they believe in what they’re doing. Then tell how you all felt after the rug was pulled out from under you in Vietnam . Explain the lifelong sentence that Vietnam veterans have of feeling like they were doing a very important job but were not allowed to finish it, seeing friends die, but being told it was all for naught. Tell them how people could elect smooth-talking Obama who keeps repeating he is going to fix the economy, when he would actually break our sons’ hearts, and sentence them to that same life sentence by surrendering in Iraq . Why don’t you ask democrats how Obama can possibly be a uniter when he divided the democratic party by overlooking Hillary Clinton with 18,000,000 supporters to pick Joe Biden? Tell them how heart-breaking it is when a person puts their life on the line, and fellow citizens only care about their wallets.”

Okay, I will.

How can anybody be so naïve, forget naïve, actually stupid enough to believe that Barack Obama plans to add almost one TRILLION dollars in new spending, but also claims he can fix the economy? How is he going to cut all these taxes yet accomplish all these wonderful platitudes? How can he double taxes on capital gains in a bad economy when cutting that tax is actually the way to increase jobs and spur the economy? Not only that, under Obama’s plan every penny seniors make on their 401K’s will be taxed, but they listen to him totally entranced by his slick rhetoric. Why don’t people realize they have heard this same line repeatedly in elections for years and keep falling for it? Does anybody in either party realize that Barack Obama’s voting record is THE most liberal voting record in the US Congress and Joe Biden’s is the 3rd most liberal? Here is the biggie: How can democratic voters look at the economy we had in 2006, and the fact that they elected a democratic congress and not realize it all went to hell in a hand-basket in the past year? GWB approached them about regulating Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac 18 times since 2001, but was always rebuffed by Barney Frank.

I could go on and on passionately, but I would rather talk about the critical importance of character for President. I have seen true American heroes die serving a cause greater than themselves, and many others being willing to die. I have unfortunately seen too much death over the years, but I have yet to ever see a Brinks truck follow a hearse to the cemetery. Please tell me, what is the price of character? If one sells out at the very beginning of their career, then what will they be willing to do when the system has had time to corrupt them? American terrorist William Ayers? Jeremiah Wright? Louis Farrakhan? ACORN? Frank Marshall Davis? Islamic radicals? Franklin Raines? Johnson? Obama has blossomed with such beauty and fragrance to democratic voters, but only because of the exorbitant amount of fertilizer his candidacy was immersed in.
